- Public Service Announcements
- Contact all local media outlets and ask for an email address for
sending Public Service Announcements.
- Using an email program that utilizes an address book, input all the
addresses you collected and save them under a group name such as "Media"
or "PSA". This can be done in Outlook or Outlook Express.
- Usually a month in advance of your function, create a single email
announcing the particulars in a brief way.
- Leave the "To:" slot empty and instead used the "BCC:" slot to put
the name of your group. This will send the same message
simultaneously to each address and prevent them from seeing the names of
others who received the same message.
- Your announcements should include the name of your church, location,
date and time of the event, short description of the event, phone number
to call for more information, and any other important information such
as "nursery will be provided" or "
- The best method for archiving all documents is a format known as PDF
that was popularized by Adobe Inc.
- The format is popular because it takes up very little space on a
computer for storage, it transfers easily, it is readable on almost any
computer in the world via a free
downloadable program, and it has many options for security (such as
prevent printing and only view it).
- There are several programs that are available on the internet for
free or a small price that allow the creation of PDF documents on your
computer. One example is
PDF Creator which an
open source program.
- After the program is installed, it will appear as an extra windows
based printer.
- If you want to save all of your weekly church bulletins that you
create on the computer. After you print the final copy to a
regular printer, go back and change the printer to the PDF Creator and
it will generate a document that can be saved to an archive location.
- You can save special documents and upload them to your church
website. One example might be your church constitution.
- Recording Sermons & Services
- You do not need expensive equipment to record your preaching.
The key is to find a device that will record digitally and save to an
exportable format. This is preferably an MP3 file. One
example of such a device is the
Sony ICDUX70 Digital Voice Recorder.
- This can be laid on the pulpit and recording started at the
beginning of the service to get all the special music and preaching.
- You can download this to a computer later for editing in a free
program such as
Audacity. It is usually better to record more than you think
you need.
- For better quality of the sermon, buy a lapel microphone that plugs
into the mic jack. The preacher will have to hit the record button
on the unit and then slip it into his pocket.
- With the investment of wireless microphone, the unit can be
controlled by another person in the room. Simply wire the MP3
recorder to output of the receiver. Depending on the unit, a mini
mixer and amplifier board may need to be added.
